Monocle’s advertising and creative solutions team is responsible for driving commercial revenue for the business through bespoke content. By working with brands and agencies globally to develop creative and meaningful partnerships, our team enables our journalism to remain proudly independent. We are looking for an experienced account director with a high level of strategic leadership on premium accounts and complex projects to work from our London headquarters in Marylebone. The Creative Solutions account director will be responsible for managing key accounts, steering existing projects to meet delivery targets and building on existing client relationships. A key aspect of the role will be to drive client service, providing insight on opportunities for account growth and collaborating with the senior team to explore and develop these further.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in selling in creative ideas, critical thinking, budgeting and timeline control, as well as coordinating and stimulating creative teams. The candidate should be well versed in branding and have proven history of involvement in strategic development, dealing with high-pressure situations and regular daily client management. Attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple workstream projects will be key. You will be an engaging communicator, a willing collaborator and an inspiring creative lead, as well as someone with a refined commercial sensibility and a thorough understanding of the media industry and content landscape. In this role, you’ll work closely with all of Monocle’s creative teams to produce integrated solutions that span print, video, podcast, events and digital media. This is a busy role in a key area of growth for Monocle that will involve working with an ambitious, passionate and talented team in a fun, inclusive and supportive culture.
Core responsibilities:
- Ownership of key accounts with multiple workstreams
- Overseeing clients and all internal teams to deliver partnerships on time and within budget
- Leading the team to achieve successful delivery with attention to detail on the day-to-day
- Building solid and trusting relationships with clients and internal counterparts through clear communication, project management, honesty and integrity
- Going beyond a transactional client management approach to cultivate meaningful relationships that build a foundation for retention and growth
- Commitment to suggesting a solution rather than passing on a problem
- Providing meticulous production-pipeline management and partnership reporting
- Contributing to creative briefs with a strategic understanding of Monocle and client objectives
- Spotting opportunities for growth on existing accounts and extensions to projects
- Supporting new sales and development of Monocle’s partnership offering and how this is being communicated to existing and new partners
Your experience & skills:
- A minimum of five years of experience in media, project and/or account management
- Exceptionally strong client leadership
- Experience in producing and selling branded content
- A proven track record of managing and owning complex, multi-faceted workflows within a media, publishing or creative agency environment
- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships, both externally and internally
- Highly organised with the ability to prioritise and multi-task
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and interpersonal
- A strategic thinker with a desire to overcome obstacles and deliver solutions
- Results-focused with an attention to detail
- Positive, driven and resilient
- Consistent ability to comfortably meet deadlines and deliver under pressure
