editorial vacancies

Monocle is seeking a full-time book-publishing editor to work in our London HQ. Ten years ago we started publishing books inspired by the magazine’s themes and these titles have proven to be a great success. We now have our own imprint and, in partnership with Thames & Hudson, have recently produced books on business, residential design, travel, swimming and photography. We are now looking for an editor with great project-management skills, an ability to work across teams (you’ll be supported by our photo and design departments and our editors), an interest in page design and how to make beautiful books – and, of course, brilliant copy-editing knowledge. Members of the team can also get out of the office to report on the subjects covered by the books. Monocle is a dynamic, fast-paced company and this role would be ideal for someone who has worked in book publishing and understands its demands – but we would also consider a magazine editor with relevant experience.

Please send applications to our associate managing editor, Jack Simpson, at jms@monocle.com

Monocle is hiring a culture editor, to be based out of our London HQ. This is a job for someone with a wide knowledge of the art market, music industry, developments in cinema and TV, and print media. The key focus of the role will be the culture pages in the magazine and our seasonal and annual titles. But we would like to find someone who can also contribute to reports on Monocle Radio, write about culture for our newsletters and represent Monocle at art fairs and media events around the world.

Monocle is a fast-paced and exciting environment, and the ideal candidate will both commission and write dispatches and reports. It’s also important to have a global outlook, not just focus on the Anglosphere. And we are looking for an editor who has good contacts, can bring new writers into the magazine, has a passion for how magazines are made and relevant experience.

In return, you will get to work with a dynamic team of writers and editors, travel and help to set our outlook on culture.

To apply please send a CV and covering letter to Jack Simpson, jms@monocle.com.
